Apply as a Food Vendor

We are excited to invite you to apply to be a food vendor at our upcoming special event,
Mid-Winter Social, taking place at Discovery Harbour, from Saturday February 14, 2026, to
Monday February 16, 2026.

This annual family friendly winter event aims to bring together the community fun,
entertainment, and delicious food. We are looking for a vendor that could run a concession
in our restaurant, Captain Roberts’ Table.

Here’s some information on the event:

  • Event Name: Mid-Winter Social
  • Date: February 14 – 16, 2026, open from 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM each day, your
    attendance is required for all 3 days for the full event duration.
  • Location: Discovery Harbor (Captain Roberts’ Table), 93 Jury Drive,
    Penetanguishene, ON, L9M 1G1
  • Attendance: 800-1000 people
  • Set Up: Friday February 13, 2026 (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM), and/or Saturday February
    14, 2025 (prior to 11:00 AM)
  • Tear Down: Monday February 16, 2026, from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
  • Application Deadline: February 2, 2026
  • Requirements (if you are the successful applicant):
    o Formal rental agreement
    o Proof of Insurance
    o Non-Refundable vendor fee
    o Event Food Permit from the SMDHU. Apply online here

What’s included from Discovery Harbour:

  • Promotion on our website and social media
  • Full access to our commercial kitchen (fridges, freezers, ice maker, ovens,
    salamander, grill, flat top, oven, steam oven, deep friers, workspaces, etc.)
  • All utilities and snow removal
  • Exclusive rights to the sale of hot chocolate

What the vendor brings:

  • All cooking equipment (i.e. utensils, pots, pans, etc.)
  • All serving supplies (i.e. glass wear, take out containers, etc.)
  • All food products (including frier oil, if required)
  • Point of Sales
  • Staff to operate the kitchen and concession

Application Process:

  • We will evaluate your submission on the following criteria. Your submission is for the
    entire three (3) day event, (Any submissions for less than the 3 days will not be
    entertained). We will evaluate each submission separately based on the following
    weighted criteria:
    • Experience in the Food Industry 20 points
    • Type / Variety / Qualify of food or product 10 points
    • Price point of food / product 10 points
    • Availability for the dates provided 10 points
    • Self-sufficient (i.e. cooking and serving equipment) 10 points
    • Total points 60 points

The selection of vendors will be based on the highest scoring submission. The
Ministry has the right to choose more than one vendor as required for the event.

The successful vendor will be required to sign an agreement and provide
Commercial General Liability Insurance of not less than two million dollars
($2,000,000), with Discovery Harbour named as additional insured under “His
Majesty the King In Right of Ontario” (93 Jury Drive, Penetanguishene, ON L9M
1G1)

NON-REFUNDABLE Food Vendor fees (including HST):

  • February 14 – 16, 2026: $750.00
